You change your kitchen sponge, wash your shower, and probably even swap out your mascara. But are you cleaning your makeup brushes? You might think you don’t need to, but you’re wrong. Just like you have to clean your face, you need to clean your makeup brushes that touch your face. Brushes that are exposed to moisture are at risk for gathering yeast. Bacteria and viral infections can affect brushes, especially if you were previously sick or have shared brushes. You are less likely to break out or clog your pores if you clean your brushes. They’re very easy to clean, you just put a pea sized amount of shampoo in your palm, wet your brushes, and swirl around. Repeat until the water runs clear after you rinse it.
