Oatmeal has been a part of meals for centuries. The Greeks were the first to make a porridge-type dish from this grain and there is evidence they were part of the ancient Chinese culture as far back as 7000 BC. Today, we know oatmeal is one of the best breakfast foods. It keeps your belly full, lowers your cholesterol and is healthy for your heart. You can add in fruit of nearly every type for additional nutrition.

Not Just for Breakfast

Oatmeal is so versatile you can find recipes for lunch and dinner dishes made with it. It has long been used in cookies and muffins, creating a healthy snack that even the kids will enjoy.  Eating oatmeal isn’t the only way we benefit from this abundant grain that appeals to the eyes as it shimmers gold in the afternoon sun.

Oatmeal has made its way into many beauty products in recent years. Shampoo and body scrubs benefit from its abrasive qualities, removing oils and dry skin. Oatmeal soaks take the itch from many rashes and spas often apply oatmeal facial masks to help freshen the skin and give it a healthy glow.

Inside and Out

Anything that stays popular for as long as oatmeal has to be good. This wondrous grain has long been a beautifier of both the inside and outside of the human body. It is amazing what something so simple can accomplish.
